A PORTAL TO THE IMAGINATION
AR EXHIBITION /
WITH DESIGN CORE DETROIT
Design Core Detroit, part of the College for Creative Studies, reached out to our team to create a unique exhibit for the 10th anniversary of Detroit Month of Design, a celebration of creativity that brings together designers, businesses, and educational institutions. The challenge was to design an experience that would captivate the local audience—primarily Detroit natives and artists—while adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols during the event.
To address this, we developed "Living Decals,” an interactive exhibit using augmented reality to bring Detroit's creativity to life and foster a deeper connection with the community. The exhibit featured four interactive decals, each bringing a different artistic theme to life. Spread throughout Detroit, these decals encouraged attendees to discover and interact with the art at their own pace, all while maintaining social distancing.

LIVING DECALS
Our team developed four engaging interactive decals—Fun Type, Futurism, Doodled World, and Renaissance—activated through Snapchat, showcasing dynamic 3D animations. Strategically positioned across Detroit, a total of 60 decals offered visitors a safe and socially distant way to explore and interact with our creations.
SPOTLIGHT DECAL /
RENAISSANCE
In my role, I led the conceptualization, art direction, and design of the Renaissance interactive decal. The primary aim was to honor the rich history of art while incorporating a contemporary edge—seamlessly blending traditional artistic styles with modern influences.
This design was crafted to highlight the iterative creative process, showcasing everything from the initial brainstorming sessions (top right corner), to the drafting stages (middle), and ultimately to the finished product (bottom left).
After initial sketches and rough comping, designs were brought to life using Blender and Snap AR Lens Studio.

After just 30 days in circulation, our decals attracted considerable attention, with the Renaissance interactive decal standing out as the most engaging, accumulating over
1,500 views and 400 plays.
Our efforts were further recognized when we received a Silver D Award at the prestigious
2020 D Show, organized by Adcraft Detroit.
