THE CHALLENGE / HUMANIZING THE ENTERPRISE ECOSYSTEM
Google needed a flagship product video for the updated Google Chat that could transcend the "feature checklist" trap. The primary obstacle was cognitive fatigue, as enterprise software demos often overwhelm users with dense and bland UI walkthroughs, losing viewer attention before the value proposition is clear.
The objective was to synthesize a complex suite of tools, including Gemini and third-party integrations, into a high-impact narrative that positions Chat as the "connective tissue" of the Google Workspace.
THE STRATEGY / CHOREOGRAPHING THE WORKFLOW
The strategy was rooted in a single principle: show, don't tell. Rather than a linear tour of buttons, I developed a visual story around the "flow state," the seamless transition between ideation and execution that Google Chat enables. We pivoted the conversation from strictly what the app does to also include how the user feels. By demonstrating how Chat eliminates common pain points like context switching, lost thread history, and "file hunting," we transformed a technical update into a human-centric solution.
To keep the UI from feeling static, I developed a visual language using Google’s secondary pastel palette and geometric abstractions. I utilized a "spotlight" effect, where geometric shapes acted as functional guides to choreograph attention toward transition and high-value interface moments. Finally, I applied aesthetic pacing through fluid motion to mimic the speed of modern collaboration.
