Rocket Community Fund Murals

Small businesses, big talent

Hook collaborated with Rocket Community Fund (RCF), 1xRun, and a selection of artists to bring four vibrant murals to life across Detroit for the fifth installment of their Small Business Murals Project.

This initiative aimed to serve a dual purpose: to support the growth of participating small businesses and to foster community cohesion by adding unique artistic expressions to various neighborhoods in the city. Working alongside local talents such as Sheefy McFly, Tony Whlgn, Phil Simpson, and Lindy Shewbridge, we utilized the Artivive app to enhance these creations with augmented reality technology, providing viewers with an immersive experience.

SPOTLIGHT BUSINESS X ARTIST

Louisiana Creole
Gumbo Mural

Recognized as a standout recipient of support from the Rocket Community Fund, Louisiana Creole Gumbo shines as a beloved local eatery with a Southern twist across multiple Detroit locations. In a heartening display of community collaboration, the RCF engaged Detroit-based artist Tony Whlgn to craft a bespoke mural steeped in the cultural richness of Louisiana.

MURAL

Movin’ and
Groovin’

RCF reached out to Hook to help add some flair to the existing murals. I was appointed the Louisiana-inspired mural, leading design and art direction.

I recreated the mural in Illustrator, tackling a maze of layers. Next, I collaborated with the motion team to animate it, bringing the artwork to life.

With the Artvive app, you could scan the mural and watch it come alive right before your eyes!
